Travellers Rest Plantation & Museum

Travellers Rest Plantation is making history fun with unique and exciting Girl Scout programs that combine heritage learning with badge earning!   In our “Learn It & Earn It” series, Girl Scouts will have fun learning about history while completing the requirements to earn specific badges.  The popular “Not-Quite Overnights” allow Scouts to visit in the evening for some special fun programming!  In addition, our year-round, on-demand programs like the Soldiers, Scouts and Spies Civil War Scavenger Hunt and the World of the Plantation Scavenger Hunt offers Scout groups the flexibility to visit the plantation on their own schedule and earn the Travellers Rest patch. Got an idea of your own…put our 20 plus years of education programming to work and customize your own Scout program!  Reservations required, some programs and events require a minimum number - for more information or to make a reservation please contact the Education Department at tonya@travellersrestplantation.org or (615) 832-8197.

Just for FUN Girl Scout Programs at Travellers Rest:

Lanterns & Legends: A Not-Quite Overnight at Travellers Rest

Imagine the year is 1828 and you are paying a visit to Judge Overton at Travellers Rest.  The Judge would most likely have other visitors and before long a simple party would be in place.  You and the other guests would find ways to be entertained.  Perhaps a country dance would be called or someone would suggest a turn at drawing silhouettes.  It’s possible you might find amusement in a newly invented optical illusion device called a thaumatrope.  Of course, spooky stories and harrowing legends could always be counted on to pass the time.  So…take a journey back into a time without video games, television and computers…it might just be more fun than you could ever imagine!
